Tech Tuesday: Apple TV

Dec 07, 2010 No Comments by Farzad

Everyone has different needs when it comes to shopping for tech products. Some people want the full on gaming experience while others simply want one product to do one thing. With so many new products (Internet TVs, Blu-Ray players and built-in WiFi)  and enhancements to older products (Kinect, anyone?) coming out this holiday season, the 2nd-gen Apple TV has entered the ring as a contender for the new era of television and a last minute addition to your wish list.

At half the size of its predecessor, Apple TV allows you to stream all your iTunes media directly to your TV. This means you can hear it all on your crisp, clear, killer sound system and see it all intensely large and sharp, new LCD TV. While you can’t use it for gaming purposes, it is probably the most high-quality method to watch your Netflix Instant Queue on your big-screen, as opposed to the Wii, which doesn’t have a direct HDMI-to-HDMI connection.

I’m not too sure about the video quality of other gaming systems but I am sure that the only product to allow streaming of your entire iTunes library is the Apple TV. I love listening to my music on BIG speakers and I LOVE Netflix so the Apple TV is definitely on my Christmas list this year.

Think of it as a great accessory to go with your new Netflix “Streaming Only” plan.
